Program

DAY 1

Arrive in Rome at Fiumicino Airport, transfer by bus to hotel in the region Marche. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 2

After breakfast, you’ll meet the guide for a excursion to Ancona, capital of the region Marche. Visit to the principal town monuments, Mole Vanvitelliana, the Loggia dei mercanti, the Fontana del Calamo (or 13 spouts fountain) and the Basilica of St. Ciriaco, one of the most important in the region. Moving to Loreto, the “Holy City”. Lunch at restaurant. In the afternoon, visit to the Sanctuary of the Holy House, one of the most famous Sanctuaries dedicated to Virgin Mary. According to devout tradition, Angels carried the house of the Virgin from Nazareth to Loreto. It is possible to have a Mass. Free time and visit to Museum close to the Apostolic Palace. Then the guide leads you to Recanati and visit to Palazzo Leopardi, which keeps the precious poets’s manuscripts. Return to your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 3

After breakfast, you’ll meet the guide for a excursion to Tolentino. Your guide will take you for a fascinating walk through the centre. Visit of Basilica of St. Nicola da Tolentino, where many frescos by Giotto’s school are kept, the crypt and the crib. Then, Moving to Caldarola to visit the Castello Pallotta. Lunch at restaurant. In the afternoon transfer to Urbisaglia to visit the Abbey of Chiaravalle di Fiastra. Before the coach transfers you back to the hotel, you may enjoy the visit of Museum of the civiltà contadina (peasant civilization). Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 4

 Breakfast in hotel. Excursion to Ascoli Piceno and visit to the historical centre and to the principal town monuments, the Basilica, Piazza del Popolo. Moving to Civitella del Tronto. Guided visit to the fortress, built in the XI century and fortified in the XV century, it was able to oppose the French, last brave centre of the Bourbon resistance.  Lunch at restaurant. Leaving Civitella del Tronto, you can reach easily Campli, a small town rich in history and traditions. In the Church of San Paolo there is the Holy Staircase. In 1772 Pope Clement XIV gave Campli the “Privilege of the Holy Staircase”, that allowed the absolution of sins and, in certain days, the Plenary Indulgence having the same value of that obtained in Rome. In order to obtain the absolution, while praying, believers climb up on their knees the 28 wooden steps of the staircase. Freetime to visit the archaeological Museum. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 5

Breakfast at hotel. Excursion to Sulmona, a wonderful town with ancient origins and birthplace of Ovid, the Roman Poet known as the father of the Latin language. Your guide will take you for a fascinating walk through the historic centre to admire the Basilica of S. Panfilo, patron saint of Sulmona, dating back to the VIII century, and the Medieval Aqueduct built in 1256. Of great value is also the complex of SS. Annunziata. Lunch at typical restaurant. In the afternoon, route will take you to to Scanno.  Your guide will take you for a fascinating walk through the historic center to admire the old ladies with their traditional clothing and watch the goldsmiths in the manufacture of filigree jewelry including the traditional "presentosa". Later stop at a local bakery to taste the typical cake “pan dell’orso", a delicious sweet made of almonds and covered with fine chocolate.  Return to your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 6

Breakfast at hotel. Today’s route will take you to Isernia and visit to the most important monuments of the centre and visit to the palaeolithic Museum “Homo Aeserniensis”. Next moving to Pietrabbondante and visit to excavation of Bovianum Vetus that probably was the most important Sanctuary of Sanniti. Your day continues heading towards to Agnone, typical village in Molise and rich of artigianal goods, art and gastronomy. Lunch at restaurant. n the afternoon, visit to the oldest bell foundry in the world: Antica Pontificia Fonderia di Campane Marinelli. Return to your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 7

Breakfast at hotel. Full day excursion to the Tremiti Islands that can be easily reached by ferry boat from Termoli. Arrive and visit to the Island of St. Nicola and to the ancient Abbey Church of Santa Maria a Mare and the Tower of Cavalieri del Crocifisso and the Castle. Excursion by boat around the Island of St. Domino, that is the largest island of the archipelago, to visit the marine caves. Lunch at the restaurant. The afternoon is dedicated to have a walk through the pine groves or to have a relax on the beautiful beach and swimming. Return to your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 8

After breakfast, travel to the promontory of the Gargano. Along the way you can admire the Lake of Lesina and the Lake of Varano, both famous for breeding of eel. Moving to Peschici and short sightseeing tour. Next transfer to Vieste to visit the historical centre. Lunch at the restaurant. In the afternoon moving to Padre Pio’s places in S. Giovanni Rotondo. Visit to the Sanctuary. A short period for praying on Padre Pio’s tomb, the venerated father of Pietrelcina. Visit to the “Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza” a hospital that Padre Pio inaugurated in 1925. Return to your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 9

Breakfast at hotel. Excursion to Vasto, the ancient "Histonium", to discover many interesting monuments and buildings as Piazza Rossetti, Palazzo D’Avalos, the Fortress built in 1200, Cathedral and Church of St. Maria Maggiore. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon the guide leads you to Guardiagrele, at the Majella foot. Visit of the historical town. Guardiagrele smithers are famous all over the world for their gates, bed heads and balconies. Visit to a smither’s laboratory, to watch the creative procedure for their artistic articles. Tasting of typical sweet “sise delle monache”. Return to your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 10

Breakfast at hotel. Load luggage on coach for departure. to Rome Airport. End of our services.
